Thanks Brian for a thoughtful proposal. To be brief and honest, I'm not sure this strategy will get enough traction to attract the attention of existing office holders. Although it could be argued that it makes reasonable sense on paper, in practice the "machine" has grown so large, it's (almost) impenetrable. I'll be interested to see what others may have to say.

Absolutely; they are well protected from a frontal assault led by those seeking to destroy them. (Another reason why third parties don't work.) This is a Gandhian satyagraha campaign, to convert them into our service driven by a sincere desire to see them succeed. To fend off a moral crusade, they would have to publicly fight to KEEP poverty, KEEP mass incarceration, and KEEP the endless wars. Such a position is indefensible.

Remember the story of the Trojan horse? The Greeks focused on their real goal of getting soldiers inside the walls of Troy, and succeeded when they stopped the frontal assault and persuaded the Trojans to do the work for them.
